MELB NOTE (melbnote.com) is a coffee, matcha and tea blog run from Melbourne, Australia. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit this site, how it is used, and the choices you have. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean MELB NOTE.
Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account to read this site. Information reaches us in three ways: automatically when you visit, when you leave a comment, and when you send us a message through the contact form.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, connected through the Site Kit by Google plugin, to understand how readers find and use the site. It records information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. It uses cookies or similar technologies to do this. We use the results in aggregate to improve our articles.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices. If you are in the European Union, you can use youronlinechoices.eu. To learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
WordPress.com and Jetpack
This site is hosted on WordPress.com, which is operated by Automattic. WordPress.com and Jetpack provide hosting, site statistics, post likes and email subscriptions. These services may collect information such as your IP address, browser details and the pages you visit, and may set cookies. If you subscribe by email, your email address is stored by WordPress.com so that new posts can be sent to you, and you can unsubscribe from any email. Automattic’s handling of data is described in the Automattic Privacy Policy.
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and website (if you provide one) you enter in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent. Your name and comment are shown publicly. Your email address is not shown. Comments are checked for spam with Akismet, which receives the comment content and related details for that purpose. If you use an email address linked to a Gravatar account, your Gravatar image may be shown next to your comment.
Contact form
If you write to us through the Contact page, we collect the name, email address and message you enter. We use this only to read and reply to your message. We do not add you to any mailing list because you contacted us.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. This site and the services described above use them for analytics, advertising, likes, subscriptions and spam protection. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers let you decline cookies from third parties. Some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
Children
MELB NOTE is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please tell us through the Contact page and we will remove it.
External links
Our articles sometimes link to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before giving them your information.
Your choices and requests
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, such as a comment or a contact form message. Please send your request through the Contact page and tell us which information you mean. Information held by Google, Automattic and other third parties is governed by their own policies and settings.
